Funding Opportunities
EPA Region 9 invites Indian Environmental General Assistance Program (GAP) grant proposals from federally recognized tribal governments and eligible intertribal consortia for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 (FY25) workplan program development activities. The goal of the GAP is to assist tribes in developing the capacity to plan and establish environmental protection programs and to develop and implement solid and hazardous waste programs in accordance with their individual needs.
GAP is guided by the GAP Guidance on Financial Assistance Agreements.
Important Dates*
Applications that are submitted late, incomplete, or with workplans that are identical to FY2024 or previous workplans may receive a reduction in their award or may not be funded. Applicants whose applications were late in the FY2024 grant application cycle and are again late in the FY2025 grant application cycle, may not be funded.

NOTE
Grantees are strongly encouraged to discuss FY25 workplans and budgets with EPA Project Officers and share drafts prior to deadlines. Early submittals are welcome. Funding cannot be guaranteed for submittals received after deadlines shown above. Late submissions may not be accepted or considered and/or may be given a reduced award amount. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit applications early. *Funding is jeopardized if materials are received after assigned due dates.

The GAP workbook template was co-developed by Tribal environmental and US EPA personnel to streamline the co-management of GAP and PPG cooperative agreements in Region 9. Reach out to your GAP project officer with any questions. Please note that all available templates and tools in this workbook are completely optional. -
EPA Region 9 Gap Workbook Example (xlsx)
The GAP Workbook Example is a version of the GAP Workbook Template with fields pre-completed to demonstrate how grantees might use the Workbook Template and how cells in the various worksheets can link to cells in other worksheets. The examples are illustrative, and grantees should develop their own workplans and budgets.
