Yes, you can create a portable version of MOVES. This may be helpful if you need to easily shift your modeling analyses from one computer to another without copying files back and forth.

If your organization’s computer policy allows it, you can plug in a USB stick or SSD external hard drive and install MOVES, MariaDB and Heidi to that external drive. Your “data” directory should be on the external drive, and you can add other utilities like your favorite text editor.

If you choose this approach, MOVES will run faster with a portable SSD drive, but run speed with a USB 3.0 or better will be similar. The drive should have a minimum of 500GB, but 1TB is common now and may be helpful.
