HAB Trends, Monitoring Results and Forecasts
EPA and NOAA monitor, compile, summarize and facilitate access to HAB occurrence data across fresh and marine waters of the United States to protect human health and the environment and to advance research to improve understanding of HAB spatial and temporal dynamics and trends. Historical and real-time monitoring HAB data have allowed the examination and description of long-term trends in the extent, frequency, and location of HABs and HAB drivers that have been used to develop forecasts. This page features monitoring and forecasting tools for marine and freshwaters. By using forecasts, health officials, environmental managers and water treatment facility operators will be better prepared for testing, treating, managing, and making advisory decisions in a timely manner.
