Public Notice: Proposed penalty of $25,000 against the Town of Glasgow, West Virginia

Summary

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”), Region 3, is hereby giving notice that it proposes to enter into a Consent Agreement and Final Order (“CAFO”), which commences and concludes an administrative action against the Town of Glasgow, 129 4^th Avenue, Glasgow, WV 25086. The CAFO assesses an administrative civil penalty of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) under Section 309(g) of the Clean Water Act (“CWA”), 33 U.S.C. § 1319(g), for alleged violations of Section 301 of the CWA. EPA alleges that the Town of Glasgow violated certain provisions of the regulations pertaining to its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (“NPDES”) Permit for the Town of Glasgow Wastewater Treatment Plant located at No. 8 Firefly Lane, Glasgow, WV 25086. The $25,000.00 cash penalty is in accordance with EPA’s Civil Penalty Policy for Section 311(b)(3) and Section 311(j) of the CWA (August 1998).
