Purpose |
The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) grants are primarily competitive grants made available by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) per Public Resources Code, Division 30, Part 7, Article 3.5, Section 47200 to help local governments establish or expand HHW collection programs. |

Eligible Applicants | California cities, counties, and local agencies, including Indian reservations and Rancherias, with direct responsibility for HHW management are eligible to apply. Qualifying Indian Tribes with direct responsibility for HHW management. A “Qualifying Indian Tribe” is defined as an Indian Tribe, band, nation or other organized group or community, residing within the borders of California, which 1) Is recognized for special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of the status of its members as Indians; or 2) Can establish that it is a government entity and meets the criteria of the grant program. |

Proposal Elements/Scoring Criteria |
There is no scoring criteria. Staff will review all applications to confirm project eligibility and evaluate the application to determine if the application meets all requirements. A random selection process will be conducted if the cycle is oversubscribed. Questions and answers will be posted periodically during the Q&A period. It is the applicant's responsibility to check the Q&A web page regularly to ensure that they are aware of all program details. |
