Background

The 2.6-acre Alternate Energy Resources Inc., Superfund site is located at 2736 Walden Drive, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. Alternate Energy Resources (AER) operated a commercial hazardous waste storage and treatment facility at the site from 1975 to 2000. Operations included blending materials for use as fuel, treating and recycling wastes. Operations did not recycle all wastes and released some wastes into the ground, storm sewer and basins on site.  AER declared bankruptcy in 2000.
