American Cleaning Institute, Washington, DC
American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. ACI hosted an EPA Day during their Mid-Year Meeting to bring industry and EPA officials together to discuss priorities and learn about the Safer Choice label. ACI featured Safer Choice in six e-newsletters and social media posts. ACI noted these efforts garnered 3,100 opens and more than 10,000 impressions, respectively. Safer Choice applauds ACI for their success on sharing the value of the Safer Choice label across wide audiences.
Apple, Cupertino, CA
Apple is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator. Apple uses EPA’s Safer Choice criteria to screen and assess chemicals used in their supply chain. In 2023, Apple noted they approved 42 additional safer cleaners for use in their final assembly sites, bringing the total of safer cleaners to 175. Apple also noted they emphasize identifying and using alternatives from EPA’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List to their suppliers. Safer Choice applauds Apple’s application of Safer Choice criteria to further advance safer chemistry.
Blueland, New York, NY
Blueland is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Since 2019, Blueland has achieved Safer Choice certifications for almost every tablet in their product line, including cleaning tablets, hand soap tablets, dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets, and toilet tablets. Safer Choice applauds Blueland’s dedication to reducing plastic, including through plastic-free products and reusable cleaning bottles.
Bona US, Englewood, CO
Bona US is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, Bona had 63 Safer Choice-certified products that are sold in the North American, Asian Pacific, and European markets. Safer Choice applauds Bona for their Safer Choice outreach, which Bona noted had a total reach of more than 300 million views.
Booyah Clean, Harahan, LA
Booyah Clean is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, 13 of Booyah Clean’s 20 products were EPA Safer Choice-certified. Booyah Clean noted they conducted multiple training sessions throughout 2023 for buyers and distributor representatives to highlight the value of the Safer Choice label. Their trainings aim to empower consumers to make informed decisions by identifying products that meet stringent safety and environmental standards. Safer Choice applauds Booyah Clean’s commitment to safer chemistry.
Case Medical, Bloomfield, NJ
Case Medical is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Case Medical has been a Safer Choice partner since 2011. In 2023, 87% of their product lines were certified by EPA Safer Choice. Safer Choice commends Case Medical for their development of webinars and educational presentations that highlight the value of the Safer Choice label.
Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Environmental Protection Service, Durant, OK
Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Environmental Protection Service is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. Choctaw Nation promotes education and awareness about safer chemistry across Choctaw Nation facilities, schools, member owned businesses, and community centers. With support from an EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) grant, Choctaw Nation also built a database of 323 cleaning products that indicates if a product is Safer Choice-certified. In addition, Choctaw Nation delivered presentations on Safer Choice and noted these presentations reached 76 different facilities and approximately 400 elders. Safer Choice commends Choctaw Nation for prioritizing environmental justice through P2 strategies, including promoting Safer Choice-certified products.
Church & Dwight Co., Inc., Ewing, NJ
Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (CHD) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, CHD noted they reduced water and plastic usage by leading an effort to further concentrate liquid detergent formulas without sacrificing performance. Through these efforts, CHD noted they reduced plastic use by 3.6 million pounds and water use by 79,000 tons. Safer Choice applauds CHD for their partnership with the Safer Choice program and efforts to offer Safer Choice-certified products to lower income and minority shoppers.

City of Gresham, Oregon and Pollution Prevention Resource Center, Gresham, OR and Everett, WA
The City of Gresham and Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC) are recognized as outstanding Safer Choice Supporters. In 2023, the City of Gresham and PPRC held workshops and participated in community events to promote the Safer Choice label. The workshops, offered in English and Spanish, educated attendees on safer chemicals and products, reading cleaning product labels, and where to buy safer products. The workshops and events also provided samples of Safer Choice-certified products, including products donated by two Safer Choice partners. Safer Choice applauds the City of Gresham and PPRC for educating communities about Safer Choice-certified products.

The Clorox Company, Oakland, CA
The Clorox Company is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, Clorox had 21 Safer Choice- and Design for the Environment (DfE)-certified products, including for consumers and facilities purchasers. In 2023, Clorox achieved their first antimicrobial product registration with the new DfE logo. Clorox also featured Safer Choice and DfE on paid customer marketing. Clorox noted this marketing led to 3 million impressions. Safer Choice applauds their efforts to increase awareness of the Safer Choice label and new DfE logo among consumers and purchasers.
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability, Denver, CO
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. In 2023, CDPHE created a training course for childcare providers focused on the regulatory requirements for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting as well as recommendations for the use of Safer Choice-certified products. The course was also required for health inspectors for childcare facilities and advertised to childcare health consultants and school nurses. As of early 2024, CDPHE noted more than 8,000 people completed the course. Safer Choice congratulates CDPHE for their success on their training program.
ECOS, Cypress, CA
ECOS is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, 95% of ECOS products were EPA Safer Choice-certified, with 98% of these products displaying the Safer Choice label. ECOS noted they educated consumers about the Safer Choice label on social media, with a total reach of more than 37,000. Safer Choice applauds their commitment to safer chemistry and goal of earning Safer Choice certification for 100% of their products.
EnvirOx, Danville, IL
EnvirOx is recognized as an outstanding Design for the Environment (DfE) Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, EnvirOx achieved DfE certification for a ready to use disinfectant. EnvirOx noted they created a digital marketing campaign that highlighted DfE and reached more than 167,000 individuals with more than 844,000 impressions. Safer Choice applauds EnvirOx for their commitment to developing disinfectants that meet a high standard for human health and the environment.
Hazardous Waste Management Program, King County, WA
Hazardous Waste Management Program (Haz Waste Program) in King County is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. Throughout 2023, the Haz Waste Program offered education, outreach, and technical assistance on green cleaning and reducing exposure to hazardous materials. The Haz Waste Program noted they reached 71,000 households, 863 of businesses, and—through technical assistance—5,565 people and workers. The Haz Waste Program also noted their efforts centered on social justice, including outreach to six low-income housing organizations, which serve 100,000 residents. Safer Choice applauds the Haz Waste Program for their efforts to advance environmental justice and promote use of products with safer ingredients.

Henkel Corporation, Rocky Hill, CT
Henkel Corporation is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, Henkel submitted 22 all® laundry products for EPA Safer Choice certification. As part of this effort, Henkel reformulated products to replace a buffer ingredient with a safer chemical alternative. Henkel also noted they created commercials with the Safer Choice label that reached millions of people. and Henkel increased access to their Safer Choice-certified products through an end-of-aisle display in dollar stores. Safer Choice applauds Henkel’s commitment to safer chemistry and promoting the Safer Choice label.
Holloway House, Inc., Fortville, IN
Holloway House, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Holloway House has been a Safer Choice partner since 2008. Holloway House manufactures nine Safer Choice-certified products, including two products newly certified in 2023. Safer Choice applauds their continued success to formulate with safer ingredients while communicating the value of the Safer Choice label on social media, advertisements, and presentations.
The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA
The Home Depot is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Retailer. In 2023, Home Depot continued to sell and promote Safer Choice-certified products. Home Depot noted their posts about Safer Choice on social media garnered 19,000 impressions. Home Depot also noted their website had over 12 million visits where customers interacted with Safer Choice-certified products. In addition, Home Depot updated their Chemicals Strategy and worked with suppliers to improve the chemistry of products in categories with the greatest potential impact on indoor air quality. Safer Choice applauds Home Depot for their commitment to safer chemistry and promotion of the Safer Choice label.
Household & Commercial Products Association, Washington, DC
Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. In 2023, HCPA’s member companies had 457 Safer Choice- or Design for the Environment (DfE)-certified products. HCPA highlighted Safer Choice in press releases and social media posts throughout 2023. HCPA also highlighted Safer Choice at several HCPA events and moderated a panel on DfE certification at the 2023 Safer Choice Partner and Stakeholder Summit. Safer Choice applauds HCPA’s commitment to educating its members and the public about safer chemicals.
IndSpyre Solutions, Inc., Lawrenceville, GA
IndSpyre Solutions, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Distributor. IndSpyre Solutions has worked to identify PFAS alternatives, specifically chemicals to replace C2-C6 fluorinated surfactants. IndSpyre Solutions noted they also worked with 10 floor polish manufacturers to use safer alternatives. IndSpyre Solutions also participated in Spring Cleaning and Back to School campaigns hosted by EPA Safer Choice. Safer Choice applauds IndSpyre Solutions for their commitment to safer chemical alternatives.
ISSA, The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association, Rosemont, IL
ISSA, The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association (ISSA) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. ISSA is a trade association whose members include manufacturers, distributors of cleaning products, and cleaning service providers. In 2023, ISSA collaborated with EPA to showcase the Safer Choice program and celebrate 2023 EPA Safer Choice Partners of the Year at the ISSA Show. ISSA also highlighted Safer Choice in articles and newsletters. Safer Choice applauds ISSA for promoting the Safer Choice label in the industrial and institutional space.
JAWS International, Ltd., a Division of Canberra Corporation, Toledo, OH
JAWS International, Ltd., a Division of Canberra Corporation (Canberra Corporation) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, Canberra Corporation had 60% of their JAWS consumer products and 53% of their JAWS Professional products certified by EPA Safer Choice. Canberra Corporation noted they have reduced plastic waste by 83% with their refillable bottles, and their cartridge products minimize shipping weight, resulting in reduced energy consumption. Safer Choice applauds Canberra Corporation for their accomplishments in sustainability and reducing plastic waste.

Jelmar, LLC, Skokie, IL
Jelmar, LLC is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. This is Jelmar’s tenth consecutive Safer Choice Partner of the Year award. In 2023, Jelmar had 23 Safer Choice-certified products across its CLR Brand and CLR Pro products, with all certified products displaying the Safer Choice label. CLR noted they also reduced the amount of plastic used in its 28 oz. jug by 10%. Safer Choice applauds Jelmar’s commitment to safer chemistry and efforts to improve sustainable packaging.
Mighty Fire Breaker LLC, Lima, OH
Mighty Fire Breaker LLC is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Mighty Fire Breaker has introduced the value of the Safer Choice label to the fire defense products sector with four certified products. Safer Choice applauds Mighty Fire Breaker’s dedication to protect the planet by formulating outdoor use products with safer ingredients.
North Central Educational Service District, Wenatchee, WA
North Central Educational Service District (NCESD) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. NCESD provides educational resources to school districts and educational staff in their region. In 2023, NCESD created a video for students that features a Safer Choice partner speaking about their work with EPA’s Safer Choice program and highlights careers in green chemistry. NCESD continues to offer online a free lesson plan to teach students how to identify cleaning products with safer ingredients. Safer Choice applauds NCESD’s efforts to raise awareness of green chemistry careers and the Safer Choice program.
Novonesis, Franklinton, NC
Novonesis is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator. In 2023, Novonesis had 17 ingredients that met Safer Choice criteria, including six ingredients approved in 2023. Novonesis also highlighted Safer Choice-reviewed ingredients in their product listings used by formulators. In addition, Novonesis noted 84% of their electricity came from renewable sources, bringing them close to their goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2025. Safer Choice applauds Novonesis’ achievements in safer chemistry and sustainability.
Optimal Cleaning Solutions, Stockbridge, WI
Optimal Cleaning Solutions is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. Optimal Cleaning Solutions is a woman-owned small business that provides environmentally conscious cleaning services in Wisconsin. Optimal Cleaning Solutions noted they prioritize worker safety and healthier indoor air quality by only using products that have been certified by EPA’s Safer Choice or Design for the Environment (DfE) programs. Safer Choice applauds Optimal Cleaning Solutions for their promotion and use of Safer Choice- and DfE-certified products.

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Pollution Prevention Resource Center, Portland, OR and Everett, WA
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Pollution Prevention Resources Center (PPRC) are recognized as outstanding Safer Choice Supporters. With support from an EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) grant, Oregon DEQ and PPRC provided guidance to manufacturers on how to formulate products for Safer Choice certification. They noted their outreach efforts reached more than 100 manufacturers from the United States and Mexico, and, in 2023, they provided funding assistance to two product manufacturers interested in certification. Safer Choice applauds Oregon DEQ and PPRC for their dedication to the Safer Choice program.
The Procter & Gamble Company, Cincinnati, OH
The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. P&G has certified many of their laundry care products while encouraging consumers to switch to cold water in their laundry cycle, an effective way to reduce emissions. P&G has also highlighted their Safer Choice certification through their product labels, website, and TV advertising. Safer Choice applauds P&G for its efforts to promote the Safer Choice label.
PurposeBuilt Brands, Gurnee, IL
PurposeBuilt Brands is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2023, PurposeBuilt had 38 Safer Choice-certified products, with each displaying the Safer Choice label on the front of the packaging. Safer Choice applauds PurposeBuilt’s success in their social media strategy and their investment in sponsored ads featuring the Safer Choice label.
Roger McFadden and Associates, LLC, Canby, OR
Roger McFadden and Associates, LLC is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. McFadden and Associates advised businesses, including manufacturers and retailers, about the benefits of safer chemicals, EPA’s Safer Choice label, and the Safer Chemical Ingredients List. McFadden and Associates conducted eight trainings for a large cleaning product manufacturer where Safer Choice was prominently featured. Safer Choice applauds McFadden and Associates for increasing awareness of the Safer Choice program.
Rust-Oleum Corporation, Vernon Hills, IL
Rust-Oleum is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Rust-Oleum, a Safer Choice partner since 2012, offers Safer Choice-certified products under their Krud Kutter and Mean Green lines. In 2023, Rust-Oleum continued to increase their Safer Choice-certified product offering, earning Safer Choice certification for two products in their budget-friendly product line. Rust-Oleum also highlighted the Safer Choice label on social media, web postings, and at conferences. Safer Choice applauds Rust-Oleum’s recent efforts to offer Safer Choice-certified products at accessible prices.
SEIU Education & Support Fund, Washington, DC
SEIU Education & Support Fund is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. SEIU Education & Support Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides trainings that help empower janitors to have a voice in key decisions at the workplace affecting their health and the health of those using the facilities they clean. In 2023, the SEIU Education & Support Fund noted they created a “Green Janitor Health Certification” course that highlights the Safer Choice program and graduated 188 new Green Janitors. Safer Choice applauds the SEIU Education & Support Fund’s efforts to increase awareness of the Safer Choice label among janitors.
Seventh Generation, Burlington, VT
Seventh Generation is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Seventh Generation has been a Safer Choice partner since 2009 and, in 2023, had 78 products certified by EPA Safer Choice. In 2023, Seventh Generation noted they worked with 67 social media influencers over four national campaigns to feature their Safer Choice-certified products, resulting in 21.1 million impressions. Safer Choice applauds Seventh Generation’s efforts to increase awareness of the Safer Choice label.
Solutex, Inc., Sterling, VA
Solutex, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Distributor. In 2023, Solutex worked with car dealerships to encourage use of their Safer Choice-certified degreaser. Solutex also has Safer Choice-certified products that are used in affordable housing developments and apartment communities. In addition, Solutex began reformulating another product to earn Safer Choice certification. Safer Choice applauds Solutex’s longtime partnership.
SOZIO, Piscataway, NJ
SOZIO is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator. In 2023, SOZIO sold more than 50 fragrances that meet Safer Choice criteria and educated customers in both the industrial and household products sectors about Safer Choice. SOZIO also created a new line of fragrances that meet Safer Choice criteria and continued to offer additional fragrances that meet Safer Choice criteria, including for carwash, boat wash, and liquid hand soap. Safer Choice applauds SOZIO’s efforts to advance safer chemistry.
Spartan Chemical Company, Maumee, OH
Spartan Chemical Company is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Spartan Chemical has 15 Safer Choice-certified cleaning products, including one product newly certified in 2023, and two Design for the Environment-certified disinfectants. All Spartan’s Safer Choice-certified products display the Safer Choice label on the packaging. In 2023, Spartan also highlighted the Safer Choice program in a press release and on trade show banners, brochures, websites, and social media. Safer Choice applauds Spartan’s commitment to the Safer Choice program.
State Industrial Products, Mayfield Heights, OH
State Industrial Products is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. State Industrial noted they increased visibility of the Safer Choice label by donating certified products to a local organization to help clean and disinfect their halfway homes for individuals in addiction recovery. State Industrial noted they also helped increase awareness and use of certified products at a popular sports and entertainment venue, a major healthcare provider, and a city building. Safer Choice applauds State Industrial’s efforts to bring Safer Choice-certified products to communities.

Tidal Vision Products Inc., Bellingham, WA
Tidal Vision Products Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator. Tidal Vision upcycled seafood waste to create two safer chemicals. These two chitosan-based chemicals can be used in wastewater treatment products and are now included on EPA’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List. Tidal Vision’s efforts have laid the groundwork to gain Safer Choice certification for products in the industrial wastewater market. Safer Choice applauds Tidal Vision’s commitment to safer chemistry and sustainability.
Toxic-Free Future, Seattle, WA
Toxic-Free Future is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. Toxic-Free Future updated their Retailer Report Card to encourage retailers to sell, highlight, and report on Safer Choice-certified products. Toxic-Free Future highlighted Safer Choice on social media and in blogs. In addition, Toxic-Free Future worked with the Washington Department of Ecology to recognize Safer Choice certification as an indicator of safer solutions to chemicals of concern. Safer Choice applauds Toxic-Free Future for their commitment to safer chemistry.
Toxics Use Reduction Institute, Lowell, MA
The Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. TURI developed an educational video that highlights the importance of ecolabels, such as Safer Choice and Design for the Environment (DfE), for a university’s online course. With support from an EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) grant, TURI also conducted virtual and in-person laboratory trainings for at least 15 technical assistance professionals to assist craft beverage manufacturers and businesses in identifying and promoting safer alternatives for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting. Safer Choice applauds TURI for spreading awareness about the Safer Choice and DfE programs.
Verde, Phoenix, AZ
Verde is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Purchaser. Verde is a minority-owned, ecofriendly facilities service company that recognizes the connection between janitorial services and environmental protection. Verde noted they use more than 66 Safer Choice-certified products in their operations and feature the Safer Choice label on their website. Safer Choice applauds Verde’s success in increasing the use of products with the Safer Choice label in janitorial settings across the United States.
WAXIE Sanitary Supply, San Diego, CA
WAXIE Sanitary Supply is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Distributor. WAXIE has been a Safer Choice partner since 2005. WAXIE has earned EPA Safer Choice certification on several WAXIE-Green products. Additionally, WAXIE promotes Safer Choice-certified products on their website, specifically calling out Safer Choice in their sustainable product selection guide. Safer Choice applauds WAXIE’s dedication to the Safer Choice program.
Women for a Healthy Environment, Pittsburgh, PA
Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. WHE is a nonprofit that empowers underserved communities to build resilience, promote equity, and safeguard children from environmental health hazards. WHE promotes products with the Safer Choice label and Design for the Environment (DfE) logo through their “Healthy Childcare Champions” program. WHE noted that through this program, more than 100 childcare centers received Safer Choice- and DfE-certified product samples. Safer Choice applauds WHE’s commitment to environmental justice and the use of products with safer ingredients.
