Food Contact Sanitizing Solutions Model (FCSSM)
The Food Contact Sanitizing Solutions Model (FCSSM) was developed to estimate indirect dietary exposure to components of sanitizing solutions used in commercial settings. Sanitizing solutions are pesticides used to kill bacteria and other microorganism which may be present on surfaces used to prepare, serve, transport and store food. These exposures may occur through treatment of surfaces and equipment with sanitizing solution in specific commercial food-contact areas, such as dairy processing equipment, and food-processing equipment and utensils. The model provides guidance for estimating these exposures where there may be inadvertent transfer of residue to edible items prepared or transported on surfaces treated with these pesticides.
