Climate Pollution Reduction Grants
The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program provides nearly $5 billion in grants to states, local governments, tribes, and territories to develop and implement ambitious plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. Authorized under Section 60114 of the Inflation Reduction Act, this two-phase program provides $250 million for noncompetitive planning grants, and approximately $4.6 billion for competitive implementation grants.

November 8, 2024 – EPA has awarded over $4.3 billion to 25 state, local, and Tribal recipients under the CPRG Implementation Grants General Competition and is working to award an additional $300 million to the 34 selected applications under the CPRG Tribes and Territories Competition. Together, these 59 grants will implement community-driven solutions to tackle the climate crisis, reduce air pollution, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the clean energy transition. Phase 1: Plan
This program is designed to provide flexible support to states, local governments, tribes, and territories regardless of where they are in their climate planning and implementation process.

Phase 2: Implement
EPA held two competitions for $4.6 billion for CPRG implementation grants – a general competition and a competition only for tribes and territories.
