EPA Announces Environmental Justice Grant Availability

BOSTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today the availability of $50,000 in Environmental Justice research funds for community-based organizations to examine issues related to citizens' exposure to multiple environmental harms or risks. Applications for grants of up to $25,000 are due by Friday, April 30, 2004.
These grants will provide financial assistance to non-profit organizations that are working on or plan to carry out projects to address environmental and/or public health concerns. Eligible research projects include surveys, research, and collecting and analyzing data which will be used to expand scientific knowledge or understanding of the subject studied. Research may include studies that extend to socioeconomic, institutional, and public policy issues as well as the natural sciences.
