TRIBAL OPEN DUMP CLEAN-UP PROJECT
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The national Tribal Solid Waste Interagency Workgroup is soliciting proposals for its Fiscal Year 2000 Tribal Open Dump Clean-up Project. This project is a multi-agency funded program designed to assist tribes with closing or upgrading their “high priority” waste disposal sites and planning for appropriate disposal alternatives. In FY 1999 $1.6 million was awarded to fund 11 tribes and this year similar funding is projected. Pre-proposal are due by Nov. 19 and final proposals are due by Feb. 25, 2000. The Tribal Solid Waste Interagency Workgroup was established in April 1998 to design a federal plan to help tribes bring their waste disposal sites into compliance with the federal municipal solid waste landfill criteria (40 CFR Part 258). The workgroup includes representatives from EPA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the Indian Health Service (IHS), the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Departments of Agriculture and Defense. To obtain a copy of the solicitation letter, see: https://www.epa.gov/tribalmsw/finance.htm#fy2000 or contact one of the following workgroup representatives: Melanie Barger Garvey, EPA, 202-564-2579; Steve Aoyama, IHS, 301-443-1046; or Jerry Gidner, BIA, 202-208-5696.
