AIR FORCE CONTRACTOR PLEADS GUILTY FOR VIOLATING
THE CLEAN WATER ACT
THE CLEAN WATER ACT
Irvine Laudermilk, a contractor at the Arnold Engineering and Development Center in Tullahoma, Tenn., was sentenced on July 13, in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Chattanooga on his conviction for illegally discharging waste into the Winchester, Tenn., public sewer system in violation of the Clean Water Act. Although Laudermilk had a contract with the U.S. Air Force to properly dispose of grease and sanitary sewer waste at the Arnold facility, however he discharged the waste into the Winchester sewer system without a permit and without prior approval. Laudermilk was sentenced to 10 months incarceration, one year of supervised release and he must pay $9,890 in restitution to the city of Winchester. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation division and the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
