STATEMENT BY EPA ADMINISTRATOR CHRISTIE WHITMAN ON
PRESIDENT’S CREATION OF DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY
Contact: 202-564-4355
The President’s proposal to create a Department of Homeland Security is a visionary, thoughtful, and fitting answer to the challenge we face in protecting the American people from terrorist attack.
The President’s plan will ensure that the resources of the federal government are brought together in the most effective and efficient way possible to meet its obligation to safeguard our Nation.
This new department will help ensure that the American people will continue to live secure in peace and freedom and that our country and our way of life will be even better defended from the threats of our enemies.
I urge the Congress to act quickly on this proposal so that the new Department of Homeland Security can begin its important work as soon as possible.
