EPA to host open house for Nelson Tunnel and Commodore Waste Rock Pile discussions

(Denver, Colo. -- Aug. 23, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will host an open house to provide information to the public about the process for placing sites on the National Priorities List before officially proposing the Nelson Tunnel and Commodore Waste Rock Pile be placed on that list.
All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
What:
Open house featuring brief presentations followed by a question and answer session. The presentations will include:
-- Overview of work accomplished by the Willow Creek Reclamation Committee in the Creede Mining District and future projects
-- Cleaning up the Nelson Tunnel discharge and how Superfund can assist that effort
-- Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment and the city of Creede will discuss roles in the NPL process
