NEW CHAIR NAMED FOR NACEPT

EPA Administrator Christie Whitman has appointed Dorothy Bowers as the new chair of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT). EPA established NACEPT in 1988 as an independent, national council to advise the agency on a wide range of domestic and international environmental policy, management and technology issues. Bowers will formally take the helm of the Council at the next meeting of NACEPT, Jan. 29-30, in Alexandria, Va. She currently chairs the ISO Subcommittee on Environmental Performance Evaluation and was a founding member of the Global Environmental Management Initiative. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Environmental Law Institute and the Chemistry Council of New Jersey. Bowers has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Buffalo and another in chemical engineering from the University of Washington.
