The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today that the release date for the results of the Site Inspections (SIs) at the Arkwright Dump and the IMC Fertilizer site has been changed to mid- April 1999. The results, which were anticipated to be released in February, have been delayed due to the late receipt of laboratory analytical data and a heavier than anticipated contractor workload.
EPA's investigations at the Arkwright and IMC sites were initiated after concerns were expressed by nearby residents. After EPA determined no immediate threats to human health and the environment were present, Preliminary Assessments (Pas) were completed at both sites in September 1998. SI sampling was conducted at the IMC Fertilizer site in late September and at the Arkwright Dump site in late October to determine whether the sites pose significant threats to human health and the environment that would warrant action under Superfund.
