EPA awards over $100,000 to the Pueblo of Picuris to cleanup and restore mica mining operation

(Dallas, Texas – May 10, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded $140,137 to the Pueblo of Picuris for a Brownfields revitalization project. The Pueblo will use this assistance agreement to clean up and ecologically restore a mica mining operation. As a result, the Pueblo will be able to reestablish its traditional mica clay pottery industry.
