(Boston—November 23, 2012) The Town of West Warwick, Rhode Island was recently selected by EPA for a 2010 Regional Industrial Pretreatment Program Excellence Award.
The pretreatment program staff of West Warwick, RI, led by Robert Rose, Pretreatment Coordinator, was recognized by EPA's New England Office for exceptional work in inspecting, permitting and sampling of its industrial users. The plant was among three facilities in New England acknowledged for exemplary performance during 2010.
“The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are key to keeping our environment healthy. I am proud to give them the credit they deserve,” said Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office.
The EPA New England Industrial Pretreatment Program Excellence Award was established to recognize and honor the employees of publicly owned wastewater treatment plants for their commitment to improving water quality with outstanding oversight of its industrial users discharging to the municipal sewer system. More often than not and particularly with the smaller facilities, hard-working pretreatment coordinators and staff continue to perform exceptionally with limited resources.
The Town of West Warwick was presented the Award at the 12th Annual EPA New England Industrial Pretreatment Program Conference on October 13th, but will also be acknowledged on January 26, 2011, at the annual New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston.
