(Kansas City, Kan., March 16, 2007) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 is taking immediate action to protect human health and the environment at HPI Products, Inc. of St. Joseph, Missouri, EPA Region 7 Administrator John B. Askew announced today.
“Under EPA’s direction, HPI is securing the warehouse, restricting access to certain areas, and refraining from removing or relocating materials, “Askew said. “We are making sure all necessary actions are taken to protect human health and the environment.”
EPA plans additional actions to make sure the building is fully cleaned and hazardous wastes are properly stored and disposed in the future.
