EPA Awards Over $100,000 to the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes to Develop Environmental Protection Programs

(Dallas, Texas – November 9, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $110,000 to the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes to develop the capacity to manage specific programs and establish a core program for environmental protection. The funds were granted under the General Assistance Program (GAP) which supports the development of core tribal environmental protection programs. The tribe will use the funds to attend environmentally related meetings, perform community outreach, and conduct community cleanup activities.
