New Mexico clean diesel projects get nearly $200,000 from EPA

(Dallas, Texas – October 8, 2008) The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) will receive $196,880 from the Environmental Protection Agency to help reduce diesel emissions.
EPA Region 6 in Dallas announced a total of $1,378,160 in grants today for clean diesel projects in New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas under the State Clean Diesel Program. Grants from the State Clean Diesel Program are direct, non-competitive assistance awards designed to allow states to build programs that reduce diesel emissions from existing fleets. NMED will use its grant to retrofit a minimum of 55 school buses with diesel oxidation catalysts and enhanced crankcase ventilation systems.
