TODAY: EPA Administrator Travels to New Orleans to Meet with Environmental Groups, Local Leaders

WASHINGTON – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will travel to New Orleans today to meet with environmental organizations and local leaders on the government’s gulf coast restoration efforts. As the recently-appointed chair of President Obama’s Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, Administrator Jackson will discuss environmental issues in the gulf and long-term recovery efforts.
The task force was commissioned to help create and maintain gulf coast ecosystems while providing economic support and addressing possible long-term health issues of residents. The initiative will work to provide long-term financial assistance to improve the region’s environment, economy and health.
