(Dallas, Texas – November 9, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $475,000 to the Central Regional Air Planning Association (CENRAP) in Oklahoma City. The purpose of this award is to fund scientific and technical studies to apportion responsibility for visibility impairment in the Central United States airshed to states and tribes. Results from the studies will allow the member states and tribes of CENRAP to adopt control measures to restore visibility in national parks and wilderness areas to natural background conditions, as required by the Clean Air Act.
