$17 MILLION CLEANUP CONTRACT AWARDED TO MINORITY BUSINESS
EPA announced the award of a $17 million contract to a minority environmental consulting firm, Resources Applications Inc. (RAI) of northern Virginia. Under its new contract with EPA, RAI will provide technical services to support EPA's mid-Atlantic region in the investigation and cleanup of hazardous waste sites and oil spills, primarily in Virginia. The five-year contract also provides for work in other parts of the EPA region which covers Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The contract is one of a number of contracts identified by EPA under its Contracts 2000 initiative to enhance opportunities for small and disadvantaged businesses. RAI won the EPA contract in direct competition with other small business firms. Under Contracts 2000, EPA expects to award one third of its Superfund contracts to small, disadvantage or women-owned businesses.
