EPA REMOVES THE RED OAK LANDFILL FROM THE SUPERFUND LIST
The EPA has deleted the Red Oak Landfill Superfund Site from the National Priorities List. The National Priorities List contains hazardous waste sites in the country.
The EPA and Iowa Department of Natural Resources have determined that the remedial actions conducted at the site have resulted in the protection of human health and the environment. This means that no further cleanup is needed. However, this deletion does not preclude future actions under Superfund, if necessary.
The July 26, 2005 Federal Register, which announced the deletion, provided background information on the deletion. The Federal Register announcing the deletion is available for public review at https://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr.
