Volume 3a - Area Source Methods - Additional Documents
This document provides technical documentation of nonpoint (area) source emissions estimation as a part of the ten volumes of the Emissions Inventory Improvement Program (EIIP) materials. These volumes provide standard procedures for calculating air emissions data with targeted quality objectives using cost effective approaches, but in some cases have become outdated.
“Volume 3a – Area Source Methods – Additional Documents” provides a supplementary reference for ammonia emissions from natural landscapes, fertilized soils, and nonagricultural sources. The chapters include nonpoint source emissions calculation methods and recommendations for future work. The nonagricultural source types include sewage treatment, composting, and industrial sources that can also be treated as point sources such as bakeries, pulp and paper plants, surface coatings, landfills, cement kilns, and combustion sources including biomass. The mobile source emissions sections in this volume have been replaced by onroad and nonroad mobile model documentation available from the Office of Transportation and Air Quality
